Ride into the past at the Merry-Go-Round Museum, located in historic downtown Sandusky, Ohio. The "oom pa pa" of the band organ, the "painted ponies" on display, the experience will thrill and enchant you.

Have your smiles ready as you relive your childhood excitement when you climb aboard the working "fully restored" Allen Herschell Carousel and with the band organ playing.
See a glorious authentic collection of tools, benches and animals from the Dentzel Carving Shop of 1867.

Watch carvers bring neglected carousel pieces back to their full beauty.

The Old Sandusky Post Office/Federal Building turned Merry-Go-Round Museum.

Our building is unique. Under construction from Nov. 1, 1925 and completed February 15, 1927 this 80 plus year old building has some very special aspects to it. It is one of the few Federal building built with the round façade; this design element was created specifically for this lot which is the point of three streets (Jackson, Central and Washington). It was not a WPA project but was built to be a state of the art facility for the postal service, Internal Revenue, Customs and weather bureau departments of the United States Government. Coincidentally it opened on the 138 th anniversary of the founding of the postal system (March 12, 1789).
